Restaurant Review - Cafe des beaux-Arts (Saigon, Vietnam)
Cafe des beaux-Arts is located at Hotel des Arts in Ho Chi Minh City, aka Saigon, Vietnam. We went to visit our friends one weekend in August, they were very kind to book a fabulous champagne brunch at Cafe des Beaux-Arts!
Overview - Ambience & Service
We love the beautiful Asian contemporary design with dark wood and marble, the floor to ceiling windows offer a stunning city view while patrons sipping champagne. Service was courteous, restaurant staff made constant trips to fill up our wine/ champagne glasses.
Food & Drink
Food
It was probably one of the best valued brunch we have had in Asia. There was a decent variety of salad, appetisers, sashimi/ sushi and oysters from three origins - local, Australian and French. The appetiser table sat across the cold cut/ cheese and wine room that I made frequent visit. Hot dishes included some wonderful well-seasoned hanger steak, lamb and pork.
The highlight of the buffet was made-to-order foie gras and parmesan risotto with truffle, which was too good to resist.
Drink
There were two Chilean and Australian red and two white, plus champagne on free-flow. As memory is fading at this point, I guess the champagne was Baron de Rothschild Brut.
Cost & Rating
It was roughly HKD800/ head and such spread was worth every penny!
