Restaurant Review: La Scogliera La Maddalena
La Scogliera
We to La Scogliera for lunch during the visit in La Maddalena, it was the most romantic dining experience I have ever had.
Ambience
Frequented by the rich and famous, La Scogliera sits on the cliff of Costa Smeralda, it is romantic and beautifully done up with a panoramic view of the Mediterranean.
Service
Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the manager and offered a glass of crisp champagne. After a few moments taking in the stunning view (and champagne), we were led to our table on the deck. Bread and water were served soon after we sat down, staff were friendly and courteous in general.
Food & Drink
Drink
A small wine list that features both Sardinian and French wine, while the vintage was not rare and fine, the price was definitely sky-high. Among my fine dining experience across the globe, La Scogliera probably has one of the most expensive wine lists, the least expensive wine of cost about 80 euro. We ordered one of the more affordable wine as it was hard to justify spending extra euros on average wine.
Food
I stared with beef carpaccio and tuna as main; hubby ordered fregola (a local pasta) to start and iberico pork as main course. Food was overall rich, flavorful and tasty but unremarkable. Portion was generous, we were too full for dessert or petit four in the end.
Cost
Two course lunch with a bottle of wine and a coffee cost about 300 Euro. When it is on the expensive side, La Scogliera is definitely a pleasurable experience if you love fine dining.
